Fenix Shipping Zones

Shipping Zones is a concept which groups a certain region in a country and treat it as a single entity. This will help us in applying specific set of rules to that entity as a whole. Each carrier will have their own shipping zone but that is primarily based on the distance. However, Fenix’s shipping zones are more flexible in terms of grouping certain regions in the country.

How are Fenix Shipping Zones used?

Fenix shipping zones are used at two places

  1. Shipping groups

Shipping groups are basically a set of rules that determines which product should go via which service. These rules can be created at the zone level. An example would be, Ground services are not applicable to Alaska and Hawaii or only USPS can ship to Armed Forces, etc.,

2. Shipping options

Shipping options are the customer facing options. These options can be created at each zone level. This gives us a leverage to create shipping options like showing Flat rate on Standard option in US 48 and an Actual rate for the same Standard option for an order from AK/HI.

How Fenix Shipping Zones are created?

Fenix’s shipping zones are driven by the following factors.

  1. Country

  2. State

  3. Zip code

  4. Should the zone cover PO or non PO or both types of addresses

Let us create a zone containing US west coast states and covering only the non-PO addresses.

Step 1: Select Country

Step 2: Select States

Step 3: Select non PO flag
