Shipping Options

This screen is used to configure the shipping options or methods which are seen by the end customer on the PDP, Cart or the Checkout page.

These options are defined at the zone level and retailers can configure any number of shipping options for each zone. It is because, based on where the buyer is coming from, the retailers can configure different set of options. For example for the US 48 states, retailers can configure one set of shipping options and for the non contiguous US states like Hawaii or Alaska, they can configure a different set of shipping options.

Retailers can configure the following for each shipping option level.

Services

Retailers can configure the applicable services under each shipping option. For example, for Express shipping option you may want to configure only 2 day services or for Standard shipping option, they can select only the ground options. If no service is selected, the shipping option will remain hidden for the selected zone.

Transit Time

This section is used to define the transit time with in which each service in that shipping option must deliver by. If no time is defined by the retailer, then all the services qualified for the shipping option.

If one of the services in the service in the shipping option can’t deliver by the stipulated time, it is automatically removed from the consideration and the remaining services are considered for the EDD responses.

Buffer Time

If retailers want to add some buffer on top of the EDDs that are currently being shown, this buffer can be updated to reflect that change.

 

Ship Cost Type

This section is one of the critical piece of shipping options set up.

The Ship Cost Type refers to the type of shipping cost that should be shown to the customers. There are three types of shipping cost.

  1. Flat Rate

In this rate type, retailers can configure a tier based shipping costs. The tiers can be based on

a. Order Value: Refers to the order subtotal after discounts and taxes

b. Order Weight: Refers to the order total weight

Against each tier, the retailers can configure a display title. This is useful when they want to show a different shipping title when the order is qualified for a different tier.

For example, For orders under $50, retailers may want to show Standard shipping as the shipping title. for orders over $50, they want to show Free Standard Shipping.

Retailers can configure any number of tiers based on their requirement.

Filter Configuration

Within each tier, retailers can configure if this tier is applicable for certain type of products. This configuration can be based on the following product types.

Product types

a. SKU id

b. Product id

c. Category id

d. Item Type

e. Customer Type

Inclusion Types

We can also specify the type of inclusion. The available inclusion types are All, Any, Exclude All, Exclude Any.

 

Nested Flat Rate Configuration

The tiers can be based on order value or order weight. You can also configure nested tiers within each parent tier. If you define your main tier based on the order value, then you can define your nested tier based on order weight and vice versa.

For example, you define a $0 to $100 as one tier and you want to split this tier based on the order weight, the nested configuration can be used.

  1. Actual Rate

If retailers wants to show actual rates to the customer, this option can be used. The rates will be pulled from the carrier based on the credentials you set up in the carrier section.

If you want to add any markup on the actual rates, the Adjustment value can be used. there are two ways you can add the adjustment.

a. Flat Adjustment: A Flat $ amount will be added on top of the real time rates pulled from the carrier.

b. Percentage Adjustment: A Percentage value of the actual rates will be added.

  1. Both

In some cases, retailers may want to apply the actual and flat rates to be applied at the same time.

For example, for orders under $50, retailers may want to charge actual rates. But for orders over $50, a flat rate should be charged.

In such scenarios, the retailers can choose this option. The interface is similar to the above sections.
